One of our longest standing clients, we continue to support the world-famous brand; Dolby. Having designed and built stands and demonstration pods for Dolby’s worldwide shows, there is never a dull experience, with many technical challenges and acoustic considerations. We always aim to translate their bold style into their stand designs and it is our dedication to the brand that helps us to maintain a great relationship with Dolby.
One of our most exciting ongoing projects has been supporting Dolby when they introduced its Dolby Atmos, a new cinematic technology adding overhead sound, first applied in Pixar’s motion picture Brave. Over the years, we have been tasked to design and build stands to include their pioneering technology to be demonstrated in a private, dedicated, noise controlled demo room…an amazing accomplishment when you consider the ambient ruckus of an exhibition hall! In July 2014, Dolby Laboratories announced plans to bring Atmos to home theater.
The first television show to use the technology on disc was Game of Thrones. This opened up all sorts of new and exciting avenues for Dolby; cue the need for Prodigio to be involved once again! How do you create a freestanding, portable, kiosk demo pod that can deliver the Atmos experience in a few minutes?
Our job is certainly not easy sometimes, but the challenge was set and within four weeks, we had designed, prototyped and built the first Atmos Demo Pod to include its very own video instructional manual, as we knew the pod would be traveling around the Globe. With technology moving so quickly, I am sure it will not be long before we are supporting Dolby on another exciting venture.
